Last night kicked a lot of major ass you guys! Thanks so much for making it a memorable one, and thanks SO much to all the people who bought cds. We don't have all the details but FRIDAY APRIL 9th at the Venue of Scottsdale, The Strand is performing at the Horns and Halos ZOMBIE BALL. These events are always sick and this time we are honored to be opening for grammy award winning DJ CHRIS VRENNA (Of NIN and Manson!) I also hear that SQUALOR will be DJing. Other information tba, but start putting together your Zombie costume! We're pulling together a set-list for the gig. Maybe play some scary music to match the Zombie theme.

There are two upcoming gigs, first of all we're playing with a SLEW of bands including Access Zero and Laconic this coming Saturday October 24th at the Venue of Scottsdale. It's gunna be frickin crazy, the promoter tells us that there are already 700 presale tickets sold. $10 presale

Our gig last night was amazing! Thank you SO MUCH to *Sadisco for having us on, and eternal thanks to the fans for your heart-felt support. You guys/gals are the freak'n best. It was PACKED! I know there are many photos to come.

I would like to let everyone know that our friends Vertigo Venus are coming thru town and many of The Strand members will be hanging out this Thursday to see them and Human Experimentation play. (October 1st) It's at Chasers again, just to clarify The Strand is only hangin out, not playing. So come and have a beer with us, I won't be running around like a maniac, and should have more time to kick it.

And yes, our next gig is October 24th at the VENUE of SCOTTSDALE. Ooooh, Ahhhh! Big stage, big venue. We're playin there with Access Zero and a bundle of other varied acts for a Halloween festival by K&Z Productions. Actually I have presale tickets for that, it's just 10 bucks if you buy them presale and there's like ten billion bands, so it's worth it. It was great to return to the stage last night with the band and play a great set. I'm really glad people like our new song, sorry we don't have a title for it yet. Heh. Anyhow, many thanks to our fans for rockin out on a Wednesday night. Also major props to Hardwire who tore it up, and it was a great honor to share the stage with SMP and Stiff Valentine who kicked some major ass up there, and were a pleasure to work with. Photos and vids on the way.

For those who've been asking, here's a flyer for the next Strand-related gig.

Additionally, I am hooking up Vertigo Venus with a gig on October 1st which features Human Experimentation, Vertigo Venus, and Mute City Radio. (The Strand isn't performing that one, but will be there to make sure it goes well, and have a beer or two.)

I built a brand new music computer... and so, there have been some delays in finishing up the new tracks I've been talking about. The transition between two computers is complete, and now I can get back to finishing up the tracks. We will certainly have them up on our myspace before the next Strand concert, because it is there that we will debut two new songs.

Once again, thanks if you voted in our contest to choose which theme we will dress in for that September 2nd gig. The one chosen is from the picture shown above. Consequently I am pulling out the old goggles, and our new members are hitting up the Army Surplus stores and the internet to gear up for the theme.

Sometimes when I'm song writing I lose track of where I was going, and get caught up
in some musical tangent. Such was the case on a few tracks from our 2008 Destroyers
CD. Cough, Stole Yer Boyfriend, Cough, Cough. :) Consequently we've made specific
goals for the new Strand cd, and to remind me WHY I continue to write music, and WHO
the real fans are, I made a new wallpaper for my music computer.

Guess what? This July The Strand is featured on a compilation CD that will blow your minds. We are very lucky to be on a CD along side many famous and kick ass bands such as Ladytron, IAMX, Onetwo, Celluloide, Mechanical Cabaret and Boytronic. The comp is called Orbit Electro from Major Records in Germany. They will be sending The Strand a few limited copies to sell, so we hope to have them for sale at our upcoming shows in September. We just learned that there are going to be some VERY special guests performing at the gig this Saturday! Hopefully I will be able to announce who they are very soon, but I can say that they are TWO high profile bands from overseas! That's all I can say for now. I'm scratching my head about the graphic design for a second Strand shirt. If you are an artist and would like to submit a design idea, please email it to me. dave -AT- strandland -DOT- com.

We're looking for a band shirt design that looks cool and has the band's name somewhere on it. Typically we prefer industrial, gothic, or steampunk designs, but are open to ideas. If you know someone who can draw, or design, let them know.

Oh, and just a final note. This isn't a payed gig. Just thought we'd throw the idea out there for anyone who wanted to help out. Also, please don't be dissapointed if your design is not picked. Last time we did this we got a LOT of great ideas!

The image will have to be either drawn or digitized at a HIGH resolution. Also, due to the screenprinting process we use, the image should contain only 2 or 3 colors for the front, and 1 or 2 colors for the back... at most.

I spent many hours today updating the design and functionality of The Strand Website. We also upgraded our official news updates, so that you can now easily add the feed to your google homepage, rss reader, yahoo homepage, cell phone, or wherever you would like to read news from! This way, you don't have to visit our site constantly for the latest Strand updates. Also, you can do the same with our band member's journals, blogs, and twitters! (Flip through our band member journals with the widget on the right side of strandland.com. Then click the OPTIONS button and you can add it to any homepage or reader.)

We also uploaded the complete lyrics and credits for our Destroyers album, and a special file which gives tidbits and little known facts about the new album.

Goodbye, Hello

Sometimes all the thought, planning, and hard work still ends in bad
news.

We are very sorry to announce that our Making The Strand winner,
Esmeralda Villalobos, did not work out as the new singer for The
Strand. She won the band over in her spirited auditions, but this past
weekend the band concluded it just wasn't working out the way we had
hoped it would. This decision was not a reflection of her skills, she
is very talented and we wish her the best.

The Strand is still set to perform on January 12th. An announcement
will be made regarding her replacement.

We are very pleased to welcome Laura McQuaig The Strand's new female
vocalist. She was among the top performers at our auditions, and we're
very glad she agreed to come aboard, even with such short notice. Her
voice, can-do attitude, and Rock-Band skills make for a very nice

former ice skater, and new born rock goddess.

10/10/07 - We are proud and exited to announce Esmeralda Villalobos is
the new female vocalist for The Strand! Her voice, enthusiasm, skills,
and personality, earned her a unanimous decision! Additionally we would
like to announce Elias of Access Zero has replaced Jeremy Reich on keyboards.
Jeremy resigned from The Strand late September during the auditioning
process. We look forward to a long exiting adventure, filled with amazing
concerts and kickass new music with these two talented new Strand members!

10/7/07 We would like to thank all 15 girls who made it to the MTS try-outs! They all performed wonderfully and we appreciate their hard work. We will announce the new singer within a week.

9/15/07 Hey! Our search for the new Strand vocalist is going well! A couple questions have come up that I wanted to publicly answer.

1.) Do I need professional training and experience? Would if I can't do all the vibrato that Kim does, or sing like her?

Answer1 : We're not looking for someone to emulate Kim, and we aren't concerned with how many years of voice lessons you've had. Those are nice, but we just really want you to step up and rock. We are interested in someone that can bring their own style, and not just a very good Kim impersonation. :)

2.) What is your age requirement?

Answer2 : You must be female and 18 or over. If your heart is set on trying out and you are under 18, you can audition but it is very unlikely that we will Make You Strand.

3.) What is the deadline for submission?

Answer3 : Technically the deadline to sign up is September 15th, HOWEVER.... The time slots are filling up, and if you delay too long we may not be able to audition you. So, sooner is better.

4.) Should I EVEN TRY?

Answer4 : Yes, please try out. You don't want to be kicking yourself later, or tattoo'ing " I COULDA BEEN A STRAND " on your leg.

08/20/2007: We regret to inform all Strand-fans
that our beautiful singer, Kimberly Brown, has resigned from The Strand
to finish her college degree in Texas. She has been a great friend, and
a dedicated member of the band since 1999. Her mesmorizing voice is featured
on all three of our CDs, and her uncanny knowledge of music theory, (and
ability to decipher my scribblings), will be sorely missed. Certainly,
things will not be the same without her smiling face, and motivated 'can-do'
spirit. Kim is truly a talent, a genious, and a friend. We support her
decision to finish her college degree, and wish her the very best in the
journey ahead.

07/05/2007: Much love to all the fans that came out to our He-Man themed gig in Tempe, Arizona! It topped off the charts as one of our favorite shows ever! We now also have a FREE video recording of us performing You Make Me CraZy on March 3rd in 2007.

04/30/2007: I'm still in the studio working on wrapping up the new untitled album. Deadline for completion is mid July. It will certainly have an industrial feel, along with some silly stuff to sing along with. We are looking into two concerts in late June, one possibly out of state and one local to Arizona. We are also looking into producing a music video for the new cd release.

04/25/2007: We have uploaded FREE ringtones, and FREE remix kits available at our online store. We are accepting remix submissions for our upcoming CDs until July 1st 2007.

10/11/2006: Many thanks to all the Strand fans for continuing to support our music in the clubs, on their playlists, at the concerts, and via myspace. Recently I've received many questions regarding upcoming shows, and upcoming musical releases. Currently I am spending as much time as possible in the studio, banging my head against the keyboards, and gritting my teeth. This is my normal behavior during song writing. In the meanwhile, we will be laying off any local Arizona concerts and focusing on producing some energetic, passionate, inventive, industrial music.

This is a paste of previous news from our band "The Strand". Before I post that, here is a bio about our band.

Six quirky friends band together to bring you fun, dancy, riff driven industrial music. Since their inception in 2000, The Strand has produced three full length CDs, and received massive acclaim from promoters, journalists, and fans across the globe with their catchy, aggressive hits. The Strand gets airplay in numerous clubs worldwide and has appeared in a variety of magazines, websites, and movies. Featured on four nationally distributed compilations, The Strand has launched from being a small home-based production into the ears and eyes of industrial fans across the globe. The Strand has supported several national acts, and performed on the main stage at Convergence 11 2005, as well as the Dark Arts Festival in Salt Lake City 2004.

The Strand does not take the conventional techno approach when bringing the music to a live scenario. Instead, a majority of the music is performed live with a drummer, four keyboardists, male and female vocals. If you have not seen a live performance by The Strand, it is really something to consider checking out. Currently The Strand is booking shows and hard at work on their next CD release, slated for mid 2007.
